KALIBO, Aklan – Following the successful run of the “Ruins + Heritage” photo exhibit here, the Aklan Culture and Arts Foundation, Incorporated (Acafi) and the provincial government have mounted the “Sari Likha” to promote the local art works of the province.
The exhibit showcases inspired pieces embellished with hand paintings of multi-colored flowers, leaves, birds, and bamboos from artist Mario Perucho Jr.
“I just want to show to all art enthusiasts that we could also express our craft through this art,” Perucho said, adding it inspired him to paint local sceneries and cultural heritage on canvass painting but hand painting in gowns and barongs is different.
“I will continue to inspire people who love arts and to impart my knowledge to every Aklanon,” he said.
Perucho has a Fine Arts degree from FEATI University in Manila. He played a major role in enhancing the artistic talents and creativity of aspiring art students and enthusiasts with workshops and classes in this province.
Aside from Sari Likha paintings, the Lezo pottery will also be displayed at the lobby of the provincial capitol here.
Driven by creative and heritage ideas, the exhibit was put together by ACAFI and the provincial government to preserve its unique culture.(With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
