AKLAN – Good news to inbound travelers and returning Aklanons. The provincial government has scrapped another requirement – the Notice of Coordination or Travel Authority from the local government unit (LGU) of their destination.

Gov. Florencio Miraflores, however, said local travelers need to register and use the Online Health Declaration Card to generate a quick response (QR) code.

Aklan is now classified a minimal risk area because its number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infections has dropped.

Previously, returning Aklanons were required to submit a Notice of Coordination issued by their LGU or barangay of residence.

Boracay Island-bound tourists were also required to secure QR codes prior to entry.

Boracay is allowing domestic tourists if they have proof of doses of vaccination and confirmation of accommodation during their stay.

Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travellers must have negative swab or saliva tests taken 72 hours prior to departure.

Visitors no longer have to undergo quarantine when entering Boracay Island.

In addition, cockfighting activities and cockpit operations may be allowed at the discretion of LGUs.

Miraflores said all onsite workers and employees should be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and only fully vaccinated individuals are allowed to enter the cockpits.

Cockpits will be limited to operating at 50 percent capacity while no physical exchange or oral placing of bets are allowed in cockpits./PN
