KALIBO, Aklan – In order to balance the health and interest of his folks, Gov. Florencio Miraflores is mulling the implementation of a modified enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in this province which is expected to start on May 1.

“I still have to conform this to our mayors during one of our meetings soon,” he said yesterday.

Ibajay mayor Jose Enrique Miraflores, who chairs the Municipal Mayors League of Aklan, said that the 17 mayors will support whatever the governor intends to do.
This province is currently under the state of ECQ until April 30 to fight the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The modified ECQ will allow public transport within this province to operate provided that people will observe proper social distancing.

The governor said that he is happy about the fact that five out of six (COVID-19) patients in this province have already been considered as free from the virus based on the retesting procedures done by the Provincial Health Office here.

“I hope the sixth COVID-19 case in this province would soon be tested negative,” he added.

Earlier, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Aklan passed a resolution asking the governor to lift the ECQ./PN
