KALIBO, Aklan – The Provincial Health Office (PHO) placed all private and public hospitals and government health facilities in Aklan under the “code white alert.”
Code white alert is put in place if there is a great possibility of emergency cases, making health personnel ready to give necessary health services to incoming patients.
The code white alert took effect on April 23 and will end on May 15.
It is a part of the provincial government’s contingency plan for emergencies in relation to Boracay’s six-month closure, the May 14 synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, Aklan Day on April 25, and Labor Day on May 1.
PHO advised its personnel to “be present and vigilant.”
It also urged the public to “send flash reports of any untoward incidents to 2685626 or 2688579 or text 09884234888/094752689411.”
Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Victor Santamaria said health personnel will provide emergency medical services during occurrence of incidents and reception of patients at staging areas, and prepare patients for evacuation and mobilization to the nearest hospital.
“Hospitals should be ready to accept patients especially of mass casualty incidents upon their capabilities,” Santamaria added. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
