KALIBO, Aklan – The province of Aklan recorded 13,054 infections since the pandemic began. By January 12, 2022, there were 326 people had died of Covid-19 in the province.
The capital town of Kalibo registered 3,129 cases including 121 deaths, while Malay saw 1,356 total cases with 16 deaths.
The first-class towns have 226 active infections compared to 192 cases of Buruanga, Tangalan, Altavas, Madalag, Malinao, Banga, Numancia, Makato, Ibajay, Libacao, Batan, Balete, Nabas, Banga and New Washington.
There were also 15 Covid-19 patients hospitalized in Aklan, according to the Provincial Health Office.
The province has recorded low Covid-19 cases in three months as the government eased restrictions since hitting a peak in August.
August was the worst month with 3,448 cases confirmed compared with 843 in September to December.
Only 23 persons have been confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus in December, while 19 people had Covid-19 in November.
Health authorities reminded the public to continue to take necessary measures to fight the local transmissions of Covid-19. People are also advised not to lower their guard against the virus during family gatherings and celebrations.
As vaccinations in Aklan against Covid-19 have progressed, the daily tally of cases also increased. The number of infections in Aklan has risen by around 63 cases for the past five days.
About 82 percent of the eligible population has now received the first jab of the Covid-19 vaccine./PN
