KALIBO, Aklan – The provincial government of Aklan has lifted the temporary ban on the entry of live poultry and non-poultry products except for embryonated eggs (balut) due to resolved Avian flu outbreaks.
Gov. Jose Enrique Miraflores issued Executive Order No. 002 adopting the guidelines of the Department of Agriculture (DA) on the movement of live poultry products, non-poultry products and by-products during Avian Influenza (AI) outbreaks.
Under the revised DA Memorandum Circular No. 27, movement of game fowls and related activities as well as validity of AI test results are modified to include the shipment of game fowls from farms in mainland Luzon with no H5/H7 detection to Mimaropa, Visayas and non-affected cities/municipalities in Mindanao is now allowed.
The transport/movement of pet birds (parakeet, cockatoo, lovebirds etc.) across the country is now allowed provided the source aviary has Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) Animal Disease Monitoring Compliance Certificate (ADMC), and a negative AI laboratory test results every 90 days shall be complied.
Shipment of pigeons for breeding or transfer purposes from farms in mainland Luzon with no H5/H7 detection to Mimaropa, Visayas and non-affected cities/municipalities in Mindanao is now allowed. However, pigeon racing remains prohibited.
Miraflores also pointed out that incoming shipment to Western Visayas upon entry to Aklan’s border or port should have an approved Notice of Coordination and Acceptance issued by the Provincial Veterinarian of the recipient province or point of destination in Region 6.
On March 2022, the province of Aklan imposed a temporary ban on the entry of domestic and wild birds including meat, eggs, semen, and manure from other regions to protect the general public from the ill effects of Avian Influenza./PN
