HFMD is an infectious disease that commonly affects children but can also occur in adolescents and occasionally in adults.
Its symptoms include painful sores in the mouth, fever, and a rash with blisters on hands, feet, and buttocks, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
PHO-Aklan advised residents to avoid close contacts such as kissing, hugging or sharing eating utensils or cups with people with hand, foot, and mouth disease.
People should also wash hands often with soap and water, especially after changing diapers and using the toilet; and clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and soiled items, including toys, added the PHO-Aklan./PN
