Aklan posts 95% COVID recovery rate

KALIBO, Aklan – The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) recovery count in Aklan as of Nov. 4 stood at 95 percent of its confirmed cases even as its fatalities rose to eight, the Provincial Health Office said.

This recovery rate is the highest since the start of the pandemic in March.

Aklan had 160 confirmed cases over the past seven months. Of this number, the towns of Buruanga and Madalag have no coronavirus cases.

The number of patients undergoing treatment at the Aklan provincial hospital and quarantine facilities is eight.

Seven deaths were recorded in Kalibo and one in Numancia. Eighty-eight percent of people who died of COVID-19 aged 50 years old and older and 56 percent of them were male. 

The oldest fatality was a 79-year-old male from Kalibo.

As of Nov. 4, Kalibo had 82 confirmed cases, of which three were active, followed by Numancia with 15; Malinao with 11; Banga with 10; Balete with nine; and the municipalities of Batan, Lezo and Makato with four cases each./PN
