KALIBO, Aklan – The province’s Arbor Day Committee was recently reconstituted.
Due to the transfer and retirement of previous designated council members, Gov. Florencio Miraflores issued an Executive Order No. 013 series of 2019 that restructured the Arbor Day Committee.
Miraflores will be the chairman of the reconstituted Arbor Day Committee and he will be joined with the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and representatives from various government offices and agencies in the province.
Cited on the Executive Order, all members are enjoined to lead in the tree-planting activities through appropriate ceremonies.
The participating agencies, schools and local government units shall also identify appropriate areas for tree planting activities in coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Tourism and local government unit.
The creation of the Arbor Day Committee is anchored on Republic Act No. 10176 which aims to combat the loss of natural resources and rejuvenating the environment by undertaking effective measures for the projects’ maintenance and sustainability.
The Arbor Day Celebration is observed during the third week of August this year. (With a report from PNA/PN)
