Aklan remains in COVID alert level 2

Aklans’ capital town of Kalibo is showing signs of renewed activities. Coronavirus disease 2019 infections are going down.
Returning residents of Aklan won’t be required to undergo quarantine as long as they are fully vaccinated against coronavirus disease.

KALIBO, Aklan – The province of Aklan remains under coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic Alert Level 2, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

Infections are falling.

The average daily attack rate (ADAR) per 100,000 population is 5.72 percent from Aug. 26 to Sept. 2, down from 10.85 percent from Aug. 12 to 25.

The number of cases in the past two weeks reached 485, down by 443 cases or -48 percent for the week of Aug. 12 to 25.

The healthcare utilization rate of the province is at 14.22 percent, considered low-risk.

Intensive care unit COVID beds were at 8.70 percent occupied, while COVID ward beds were at 10.19 percent utilized.

There were clustering of cases in the towns of Banga (51), Tangalan (49), Kalibo (45) and Numancia (27); Ibajay and Malay with 21 cases each, Batan (19), Altavas (15), Malinao (12) and New Washington with 11 cases for morbidity week from Aug. 30 to Sept. 12.

WV SITUATION

Western Visayas tallied 114,429 confirmed cases including 2,683 deaths due to COVID-19-related complications and 97,134 recoveries.

The region’s case fatality rate (CFR) of 2.34 percent is higher than the national CFR of 1.60 percent.

Aside from Aklan, the provinces of Antique and Capiz were categorized under Alert Level 2, Negros Occidental on Alert Alert 3, while the provinces of Guimaras and Iloilo, Iloilo City and Bacolod City were placed under Alert Level 4.  

DOH has reminded the public to limit unnecessary travel, avoid non-essential gatherings and observe minimum health protocols to contain the spread of the coronavirus./PN
