KALIBO, Aklan – The rehabilitation of the Banga-Libacao farm-to-market road with bridges is in full swing. The government aims to complete it this year.
Costing P148.543 million, the widening and paving of the all-weather road are aimed at enabling villagers to avail themselves of essential social services even during inclement weather.
The rehabilitation of the 12.74-kilometer road covering Banga, Madalag and Libacao is under the Philippine Rural Development Project, with funding from the World Bank, Department of Agriculture and the provincial government.
The government targets to complete 56.66 percent of the project by end of the month and 94.13 percent by June.
Contractor BSP and Company, Inc. reported a 30.36-percent completion as of Dec. 17, 2016. Its target was 37.28 percent.
Around 2,756 households (12,950 individuals) were seen to benefit from the road rehabilitation.
Aside from the Banga-Libacao road project, Aklan is a recipient of P237 million worth of projects.
The projects include the P68.156-million rehabilitation and improvement of the 4.2-kilometer Lalab-Bay-ang-Magpag-ong (Batan) farm-to-market roads; P165.39-million concreting of the 9-kilometer Barangay Pampango-Rosal-Luctuga-Manika farm-to-market roads in Libacao; and the P3.884-million rehabilitation of the coconut oil mill for the production of small-scale coco-based crude oil and copra cakes in Altavas.
World Bank shoulders 80 percent of the cost. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
