MANILA – Andreas Cahilig is still with the Terrafirma Dyip when the 2021-2022 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governors’ Cup resumes on Feb. 11 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Aklanon big man, a second round pick of the NorthPort Batang Pier in the 2017 PBA Rookie Draft, has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Dyip after his previous deal expired recently.
The 6-foot-6 Cahilig was accompanied by representative Charlie Dy of Virtual Playground when he signed the deal in the presence of Dyip team manager Ronald Tubid.
Cahilig’s decision to stay put at Terrafirma is a welcome sight after the team lost Matthew Ganuelas-Rosser, who returned to TNT Tropang Giga, and Roosevelt Adams, who is set to play overseas.
The Filipino-Swiss currently averaged 7.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists for the Dyip, who carries a 1-4 record going to the restart of the import-laden conference.
Meanwhile, the Alaska Aces have added depth to its frontline rotation after agreeing to a deal with free agent forward Bryan Faundo for the remainder of the conference.
This marks as the PBA return of the veteran forward after suiting up for the Bulacan team in the 2021 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Invitational last December.
The Aces have decided to pick up Faundo after they failed to strike a contract extension with center Rodney Brondial, who have signed up with the San Miguel Beermen.
The Aces is the ninth team of Faundo in the league after starting his career with Barako Bull and moving to Meralco Bolts, Air21 Express, San Miguel Beermen, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings, NorthPort Batang Pier, Blackwater Bossing and Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters.
Meanwhile, the Aces is still in contract talks with guard Allyn Bulanadi, who was recently released from the Gilas Pilipinas national men’s basketball team pool./PN
