KALIBO, Aklan – After two years of no celebrations, a series of activities have been lined up to commemorate the founding of the province of Aklan.
‘Aklan Day’ is a special non-working holiday in Aklan under Republic Act 1414 signed on April 25, 1956, by then-President Ramon Magsaysay.
The province called off the celebrations over coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in 2020 and 2021.
On Monday, April 25, Aklan governor Florencio Miraflores led the activities in celebrating the 66th anniversary, a sign of normalcy after a two-year hiatus.
The Aklan Pina and Fiber Festival and Talibong Festival 2022 kicked off on April 22 until today April 26 at Provincial Trade Hall.
A painting exhibit with the theme “Pagbalikid sa Kasaysayan ag Kultura it Akean” also opened last April 22 at Paseo de Akean in Kalibo, Aklan in partnership with Aklan Council for Culture and the Arts, Aklan Provincial Tourism Office and Aklan Culture and Arts Foundation, Inc.
For the first time, the Aklan Bonsai Association hold its bonsai exhibit with basic and advanced bonsai demo workshops at Provincial Capitol Complex.
Other public activities are Pinta Grasya 10 art exhibition of Aklanon Visual Artists of Lakbay Kulay Chapter and Kurit Kudlit Group, a garden show of Aklan Horticulture Society, Aklan Baligyaan sa Kapitolyo, Tsibugan sa Kapitolyo and recognition of 2021 Most Outstanding Taxpayers and Municipal Treasurers’ Office./PN
