BACOLOD City — Councilor Ana Marie Palermo said the lives of Brgy. Alangilan residents living near Metro Safari Resort in Sitio Campuestuhan are at risk because of the wild animals kept in the resort.
It was known during a Sangguniang Panlungsod committee on laws and ordinances hearing on Tuesday that resort owner Rey Francis Cabuga was keeping lions and tigers as pets.
Cabuga may build a secure fence where he could keep his wild animals, but he must first acquire a permit from the Office of the Building Official (OBO), Palermo said, adding that practically every construction activity at the resort needs an OBO permit.
She said her committee will wait for the resolution of the Alangilan Barangay Council regarding the wild animals before taking any action.
The committee hearing was held in view of the complaint filed by Alangilan barangay kagawads Donard Alimpolo, Alex Sausi and Roy Retiza regarding the continued construction of Metro Safari Resort.
Palermo said Metro Safari had stopped its construction activities because of the notice of work stoppage issued by the OBO./PN
