ILOILO City – Ilongga beauty queen Alexie Mae Caimoso Brooks was crowned Miss Eco International 2025 during a glitzy pageant night at Alexandria, Egypt.
Representing the Philippines, Brooks stood out among 39 candidates from across the globe with her poise, intelligence, and strong commitment to environmental advocacy.
The Leon, Iloilo native also bagged the Best in National Costume award for her unique ensemble inspired by the Philippine Eagle, a creation by Ilonggo designer Tata Blas Penuela. The costume, titled Mangayon, depicts the national bird as a symbol of Filipino resilience, strength, and the unyielding spirit of freedom. Its golden hue reflects royalty, while leaf motifs and crystal beadwork echo the eagle’s natural forest habitat — regal yet vulnerable.
“We are guardians of our natural heritage, entrusted with protecting these irreplaceable ecosystems,” the 24-year-old Brooks said. “Let us soar high and unite as eco warriors, embodying the hope for our dying planet.”
Standing 5 feet and 9 inches tall, Brooks’ commanding stage presence was enhanced by the work of Ilonggo makeup artist Maki Gu whose clean, radiant glam look elevated the overall impact of her appearance during key segments of the competition.
During the final question and answer portion, the bi-racial Brooks (her father is an African-American) delivered a passionate message on climate change:
“If you want me to be realistic, climate change is impacting our world right now. And the only thing that we can do is to act towards it. Brothers and sisters, ladies and gentlemen, we have the same mother even if we came from different nations. And we are brothers and sisters right now. And our mother is asking for our help. So we must save our planet Earth and we must take care of our mother Earth.”
The heartfelt response, delivered with conviction, sealed her victory, a “mic drop” moment that captured the spirit of the pageant’s advocacy.
Brooks is no stranger to the spotlight. She was crowned Miss Iloilo 2024, competed in Miss Universe Philippines 2024, and earned the title Miss Eco International Philippines 2025, securing her spot in the global pageant.
Iloilo City’s Mayor Jerry Treñas congratulated Brooks: “You have made the whole country proud, especially Iloilo! Basta Ilongga gwapa, maalam, kag ma-abilidad! Your victory inspires many young Ilonggos, especially our empowered women, to dream big and reach greater heights.”
Brooks’ triumph adds another milestone in Philippine pageantry and puts Iloilo on the map once again as a cradle of beauty, grace, and global-caliber talent.
