ILOILO – Noisy motorcycle mufflers are banned in Alimodian, Iloilo.
Mayor Geefre Alonsabe ordered the municipal police station to set up checkpoints, inspect motorcycles and confiscate noise-enhancing mufflers.
Many residents have been complaining about these noisy motorcycle mufflers, especially at night, according to Alonsabe.
A municipal ordinance banning these mufflers imposes a fine of P150 to violators.
“Disturbo gid sa mga pumulyo. Bisan ako nagakakibot sa pagkagahod sang mufflers,” said Alonsabe.
Last week, 16 motorcycles were apprehended. Their mufflers were seized and destroyed.
“We started our operation against noisy mufflers on the first week of December. We are warning all motorists not to use noisy mufflers because we will confiscate them,” said Police Lieutenant Danilo Noca, municipal police chief./PN
