ILOILO City – As Iloilo province observes the enhanced community quarantine in a bid to suppress the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), residents of Alimodian town have made use of their time at home to spread good vibes online.

Dubbed as “#Cooking With Style ALIMODIAN” challenge, people seemed to have rummaged through their closets to pull off their best cooking outfits.

Phaul Rey Tolentino, creator of the online challenge, said on April 23 that the participants transformed themselves into royalties. Most of them wore elegant ball gowns, suits and Barong Tagalog.

“Some even used extra accessories like the one who put the ingredients in a branded bag,” he added while referring to a photo.

Toltentino was able to launch the challenge on April 20 after a photo of the town’s mayor, Geefre Alonsabe, made a buzz on social media. Alonsabe was wearing a duster while cooking food for the frontliners.

“I wanted to point out that anyone can wear whatever he or she wants while in the kitchen,” he said, adding that Alonsabe has inspired the town folks to help frontliners by any means during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A private individual initially gave P5,000 for the first prize, while Mayor Alonsabe and Vice Mayor Ian Kenneth Alfeche pitched in a total of P5,000 for consolation prizes.
The winners of the challenged have been encouraged to share their prizes to the front-liners.

“This is the contribution of Alimodian town to our netizens, this entertainment, in this time of crisis,” Tolentino said.(With a report from PNA/PN)
