BACOLOD City – Colonel Noel Aliño was relieved as director of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) effective Friday, July 19.
He was given the new assignment at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) national office.
Brigadier General Jack Wanky, the director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), confirmed that Aliño, who served as this city’s top cop from April 2023, was relieved due to career advancement.
For his part, Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said Aliño’s transfer is part of the Philippine National Police’s promotion process.
“As part of their internal procedure, he will be transferred to CIDG Manila. We will wait for the official announcement from the office of the regional director regarding who will replace Aliño,” the city mayor added.
Mayor Benitez expressed his gratitude to Aliño for his dedicated service and contributions to the safety and security of the city.
“He has done a commendable job during the duration of his stay here in the City of Smiles,” he said.
He added that he looks forward to working closely with the new city director to continue ensuring the welfare and protection of every Bacolodnon, and maintain the utmost peace and order, and security of the Bacolod.
Wanky, meanwhile, told the media yesterday that for the meantime he designated an officer-in-charge for the BCPO especially with the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcor Jr. on Monday, May 22.
“Kasi mahirap din ang reassignment ng isang officer, it will affect ang ibang position dito. Kaya habang nag-prepare tayo sa SONA dapat hindi muna magalaw,” Wanky explained.
Lieutenant colonel Edyliz Ritche Crucero, BCPO’s deputy director for administration, was designated as OIC pending the deliberation of the Regional Replacement and Promotion Board on the list of names to be endorsed to the city mayor./PN
