
ILOILO City – All are set for Dinagyang Festival 2022’s religious Santo Niño motorcade around the city on Friday, Jan. 21.
This will temporarily replace the traditional crowd-drawing fluvial procession at the Iloilo River due to the coronavirus disease pandemic.
Around 20 vehicles are participating, according to Robert Alor, overall chairman of the motorcade that will commence at 1 p.m. at the San Jose de Placer Church in Plaza Libertad.
The number of participating vehicles has been deliberately kept few for the quicker execution of the motorcade, said Alor.
A Mass will be celebrated at the San Jose de Placer Church right after the motorcade.
“Matipon ang mga participants by 11 a.m. sa atubangan sang church and by 12:15 p.m. may blessing sang images sang Santo Niño,” said Alor.
Here is the route of the motorcade:
* from Plaza Libertad – Iloilo City Hall – JM Basa Street – Iznart Street- Arroyo Fountain, Iloilo Provincial Capitol going to Huervana Street in La Paz
* La Paz Plaza to Burgos Street – Magdalo Street – Luna Street going to Jaro district
* Jaro Plaza, turn right to Archbishop’s Palace – Jaro Police Station – Biscocho house – Jaro Cathedral – L98 Street, Jaro going to Diversion Road in Mandurriao district
* From Diversion Road, proceed to SM City Iloilo going to MH Del Pilar Street, Molo distric
* upon reaching the Iloilo City Community College in Molo district, proceed to Molo Plaza- Molo Church and going to Arevalo district.
* upon reaching Arevalo district, proceed to Yulo Drive – Breakthrough- Barangay Calaparan, Arevalo going to Barangay Calumpang, Molo – Barangay Baluarte, Molo toward the Fishing Port.
* From the Fishing Port, proceed to Barangay Tanza, City Proper – Ledesma Street – Iznart Street – Central Market – Rizal Street, General Hughes Street- Santo Rosario Street and return to San Jose Church.
Alor urged devotees of the Santo Niño to just wait for the motorcade to pass by their houses./PN
