All-time high: WV has 828 COVID cases in just one day; active cases now over 10K

ILOILO City – At 828, Western Visayas on Thursday hit an all-time high in the number of coronavirus cases recorded in a day, bringing the region’s total active cases to 10,050, data from the Department of Health (DOH) showed.

The provinces of Negros Occidental and Iloilo led highly urbanized cities and provinces in the region with the highest cases recorded on June 10 at 208 and 204, respectively.

Bacolod City also logged three-digit cases in one day with 138 as well as Iloilo City with 101.

Aklan, on the other hand, had 68 cases while Capiz had 54, Antique (23), and Guimaras (20), as of June 10.

Meanwhile, Iloilo City still had the highest active cases (2,296) followed by Negros Occidental (2,122).

Iloilo province is also catching up with 1,993 active cases together with Bacolod City with 1,608.

As to other provinces, Capiz had 773 active cases, Aklan (625), Antique (473) and Guimaras (260).

COVID deaths in the region are now at 1,264, including the 13 new deaths recorded yesterday.

Broken down, Negros Occidental had 300 deaths, Bacolod City (277), Iloilo (226), Iloilo City (223), Capiz (109), Aklan (59), and Antique (58).

Total cumulative cases of coronavirus in the region since the start of the pandemic have already reached 53,400 as of June 10./PN
