ILOILO – A horrifying incident unfolded in Barangay Pili, Ajuy on Saturday night as a man’s life was cut short after a violent altercation.
The victim, identified as Edgar Lariata, was involved in a heated confrontation with his cousin, Junjun Puod, both residents of the area.
Police Lieutenant Randy Lambungan, officer-in-charge of the Ajuy Municipal Police Station, told Panay News that the suspect was walking through the field when he allegedly heard Lariata’s wife asking for help.
Lariata was allegedly intoxicated and had a confrontation with his wife, during which he hurt her, the police added.
Puod intervened, which provoked Lariata to lash out and strike him with a wood. The former, meanwhile, went home to get his machete.
The suspect hacked Lariata three times, resulting in his untimely demise.
At present, the suspect is detained at the police station and will be facing charges./PN
