BACOLOD City – It was altercation that led to the death of a man in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, police said.
The 37-year-old Winnie Sarona of Bago City, Negros Occidental sustained a laceration on the throat and was pronounced “dead on arrival” at the Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital in La Carlota City, a police report showed.
Sarona, the 19-year-old John Paul Balena and a 15-year-old boy were walking on Yungque Street around 2 a.m. on Monday when they encountered four men, the report further stated.
Sarona greeted the men “Maayong aga,” resulting to a heated argument, which eventually led to stabbing, police said.
The men attacked Sarona, Balena and the boy using broken glass bottles.
Balena and the boy were injured and were brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital where they were currently under treatment.
Officers from the La Carlota police station were still locating and identifying the men, who fled after the incident./PN
