MANILA – Ethan Alvano recorded a triple-double as Wonju DB Promy scored an 82-75 victory over Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters in the Korean Basketball League on Wednesday night at the Anyang Arena.
The Filipino-American guard finished with 11 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds to go with one block in 36 minutes of action as the Promy improved to a 15-16 win-loss record.
Robert Carter tallied a double-double of 28 points and 14 rebounds, Lee Kwan-hee added 24 markers, while Chinanu Onuaku struggled with just 10 markers for the Promy.
Despite the victory, Promy head coach Kim Joo-sung expressed disappointment with the performance of Onuaku that he only used the reinforcement for seven minutes.
“I keep talking to Onuaku, but I’m disappointed that he’s acting like this,” Kim said after the game. “I wish he’d work hard for the team. And I wish I knew why he’s doing that, but I’m frustrated because he hasn’t told me.”
Johnny O’Bryant tallied 21 points to lead the Red Boosters, Javi Gomez de Liano added 18 markers, while Park Ji-hoon and Jeong Hyo-geun ended with 10 markers apiece as they dropped to an 8-23 mark.
Meanwhile, JD Cagulangan has secured his first KBL victory after Suwon KT Sonicboom scored a 74-65 win against the Seoul Samsung Thunders over at the Suwon KT Arena.
The former guard for the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons contributed four points, four assists, and three rebounds in 15 minutes of play, helping the Sonicboom improve their record to 16-14.
Ha Yun-gi was the standout performer for the Sonicboom, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and four assists. Moon Seong-gon and Rayshaun Hammonds also made significant contributions, adding 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Lee Weon-seok led the Thunders’ scoring with 13 points, Choi Seong-mo and Choi Hyun-min each contributed 12 points, while Filipino guard Justin Gutang struggled with eight points as the team fell to an 11-19 record./PN
