Ambulance hits motorcycle; 1 dead

ILOILO City – An ambulance accidentally hit a preceding motorcycle in Barangay Ungka II, Pavia, Iloilo.

The driver of the motorcycle died while his back-rider – his wife – was injured.

Florencio Deloviar of Barangay Patlad, Dumangas town sustained a head injury after the crash on Sunday.

The 69-year-old was pronounced dead at the Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) in Mandurriao district.

His wife Helen, 64, had body injuries and was confined in the same hospital.

Bound for this city, the couple were negotiating the highway while the ambulance of the Janiuay District Hospital was behind them.

The ambulance – driven by Angel Quidato, 50, of San Pedro Street, Janiuay town – was bringing a patient to the WVMC.

It was attempting to overtake the motorcycle by passing by its left side but the latter vehicle swerved left, too, resulting in the crash.

Quidato was taken to the Pavia police station./PN
