MANILA – Amid issues hounding the squad, Global Football Club continues to load up its roster ahead of the 2020 Philippines Football League (PFL) after signing American midfielder Victor Parra.
Parra joins the growing list of foreign players signed up by Global this offseason and he is looking forward to joining the team, which is hoping to bounce back from its lackluster showing the past two seasons.
“I am excited to be there in the Philippines. I believe that the Philippines is a great place to go and I am looking forward to playing there,” Parra told Panay News. “I am here in the United States waiting for heads out from the team.”
Parra suited up for Boston Bolts as a youth player and at California San Jose State University in US NCAA Division 1, where he was chosen to represent the university as a top player in the area.
Professionally, Parra has played for a season with the Argozelo in the Liga Pro, a second division tournament in Portugal and with California Express in the Major Arena Soccer League.
While with California Express, Parra was selected to represent the United States men’s indoor national soccer team and was able to play in USA’s friendly match against Mexico in 2019. “Aside from helping Global FC in PFL, I hope to motivate a lot of players, not only in the United States but also in the Philippines, to keep chasing their dreams and never give up,” Parra said./PN
