BACOLOD City – Americans topped the list of foreign tourists who visited this capital city for two consecutive years, according to the City Tourism Office (CTO).
A total of 11,465 tourist arrivals in 2017 and 13,050 tourist arrivals in 2018 were that of Americans, said City Tourism Officer Ma. Elma Gerasmo, citing CTO data.
The data further showed that this year, more Americans visited the city with 13,050 arrivals than in 2017, when there were 11,465 arrivals.
Korean tourists came in second with 11,783 tourist arrivals in 2018 and 8,978 tourist arrivals in 2017.
They were followed by Japanese tourists with 7,934 arrivals in 2018 and 6,483 tourist arrivals in 2017.
According to Gerasmo, foreign tourist arrivals in Bacolod increased 0.5 percent in 2018 with 80,840 visits compared to 2017’s 75,583.
Meanwhile, domestic tourist arrivals recorded in 2018 declined to 754,944 from 756,104 in 2017.
Gerasmo said more tourist arrivals are expected this 2019 in Bacolod since it is the entry point of Negros Occidental./PN
