“I’VE been doing my part.”
This was Catriona Gray’s response to a netizen who questioned her being abroad as Typhoon Ulysses wreaked havoc in parts of the Philippines earlier this week.
On Instagram, the former Miss Universe addressed the comment of a follower in a post she uploaded Wednesday, Nov. 11, announcing her arrival in Colombia, where she has been tapped to judge the country’s local Miss Universe pageant.
“Cat, why are you in Colombia instead of helping your own province deal with the typhoon? I have always been [a] fan but especially with traveling during a pandemic? What example does taking this job send to everyone?” wrote the netizen.
To which, the beauty queen responded: “[This] invitation was extended months ago and even though I’m away, I’ve been doing my part in working with @philredcross since the day of the typhoon to provide aid and relief to the affected areas. Thanks for your concern.”
On Thursday, Nov. 12, Catriona took part in efforts of the Philippine Red Cross to lend aid to victims of Typhoon Ulysses, which displaced nearly 34,000 families as it brought heavy rains and severe flooding in Metro Manila and neighboring provinces, according to the non-government humanitarian organization.
In a video she posted on Instagram, Catriona encouraged her followers to participate in PRC’s donation drive, which she recently joined as the organization’s newest ambassador.
“These families have lost so much and worry for the safety and health of themselves, their loved ones, and their kababayans,” she said.
Meanwhile, aside from being one of the judges of the Miss Universe Colombia 2020 pageant, Catriona is also in the South American country to work with Smile Train — an international charity organization and charity providing corrective surgery for children with cleft lips and palates — as its global ambassador.(Push)
