Amistads, DPWH remain on top of Pintados basketball tilt

PASSI CITY, Iloilo – Despite suffering their first defeats, Amistads/TEJ Builders and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 2nd DEO/J. Cordon/Double J remained on top of the 1st Pintados de Pasi Invitational Open Basketball Tournament.

Amistads/Tej Builders tasted its first loss in five matches at the hands of XYZ/Toto-Tia-Ten Trucking, 93-94, on Monday. Gerry Abadiano led the winning team with 20 points.

DPWH 2nd DEO/J. Cordon/Double J also has a 4-1 win-loss card after being defeated by Guimaras Leopards on Tuesday night. Guimaras is now in the No.3 spot with a 4-2 record.

Hercor College Jaguars share with the Leopards a 4-2 record after defeating them on March 6, followed by a dominant win over XYZ/Toto-Tia-Ten Trucking on Tuesday.

XYZ/Toto-Tia-Ten Trucking, on the other hand, is currently in solo fifth place in the standings with a 3-3 win-loss record, followed by JKG Mamba (2-3), Philippine National Police (1-4), and Ogtonganons (0-5).

The remaining matches of the tournament starting on Wednesday night were postponed by Passi City Mayor Stephen Palmares.

He said that the decision to halt of the remaining games was in line with the Executive Order No. 028-B of Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., who ordered the suspension of holding public events involving a large number of attendees due to coronavirus disease 2019 outbreak.

“As City Mayor, I always emphasize that public health, safety and security are my priorities, which is why, in compliance with the order of Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., I hereby postpone the celebration of Pintados de Pasi Festival 2020,” he said.

“All activities will be POSTPONED starting March 11 and will resume until further notice to make sure that Passinhons and all visitors are safe,” he added./PN
