And why not Manny Pacquiao for president

JUST the title of this column probably pissed off all the “devotees to the cult of the yellow ribbon”, social climbers, trendy millennials and “wokes”, while wannabe presidents squirm in their Marks and Spencer drawers or knickers at the thought of how formidable an opponent they will face.

Meanwhile, the natives, the hoi polloi, the great unwashed and your common average Pinoy or everyman will most probably be happy that their idol will be the next President of the Philippines.

This, of course, will depend if Sara Duterte does not run and supports a Manny Pacquiao run for the presidency.

Of course, all those mentioned above, you know, the usual suspects, will vehemently disagree saying the usual nonsense, “Manny Pacquiao is not qualified” or “he is not presidentiable”.

But really, who among the current crop of the so-called opposition can even come close to the popularity, trust and acceptance of current President Rodrigo Duterte?

Only Sara Duterte and Manny Pacquiao come close and have the very strong potential to even match it, or more.

Let’s face it. The natives are up fed up with these disente hypocrites who are not only incompetent but corrupt as well. And this argument was proven with Rodrigo Duterte who is the anti-thesis of everything they represent.

The only way people like Bambam Aquino, Leni Robredo or “Pilo” Hilbay will win is if Andy Bautista is still the head of Comelec.

Lately however, a certain Rowena Guanzon seems to be exhibiting “Andy-like” symptoms.

The president we had before Rodrigo Duterte  was a nincompoop. Noynoy Aquino became President of the Philippines not because he was qualified (whatever that means) or presidentiable. He only became President because his mother, former President Cory Aquino, died, and a lot of idiots have this mistaken notion that voting for him and saying condolences are one and the same.

So what did the “fruit of the loins” of Ninoy a.k.a. Marcial Bonifacio and Cory Aquino give or did for this country during his presidency? Let’s name a few:

To start with, a P1-billion penalty for cancelling a Belgian firm’s P18-billion flood control project; 800 thousand school children sentenced to “death by Dengvaxia”; billions of pesos siphoned through the illegal DAP (Disbursement Acceleration Program) and PDAF (Priority Development Assistance Fund); sending 44 troopers of the Philippine National Police’s Special Action Force to be massacred by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.

And you’re still wondering why Rodrigo Duterte won as president and not Noynoy’s anointed Mar “Daang Matuwid” Roxas?

The natives are up to their necks with hypocrites like them, which brings us to Manny Pacquiao and why he can be the next President of these islands.

For starters, like Duterte he is the exact opposite of all those wannabes wearing yellow drawers or knickers. He is everyman and speaks their language and feels their sentiments.

People would rather have an uneducated President who has not stolen nor needs to steal anything from the government than someone who claims he is an MBA graduate of Wharton (clearly he’s not) and pretends to be some kind of idiot driving a pedicab, carrying a sack of onions and directing traffic on Commonwealth Avenue.

Neither would the natives want a President or current Vice President, a.k.a. Leni Robredo, who is clueless with the law when she is supposedly a lawyer (how she became one is still one of life’s mysteries) and walks around rice paddies barefoot.

So what does National Artist for Literature F. Sionil Jose have to say about Manny Pacquiao running for President?

Excerpts from a June 15, 2020 article on PH Chronicles:

Sionil Jose details why Pacquiao is qualified to run for President

National Artist F. Sionil Jose expressed his belief that Manny Pacquiao is qualified to run for President in the upcoming presidential elections in 2022.

As a boxing icon, is he qualified?” Jose posited. “What really are the qualifications of a presidential candidate? Were Cory Aquino and her son qualified? Yes, (Ferdinand) Marcos was very qualified – but look at what he did to this country. He is precisely the best argument against those so-called brilliant politicians who want to be President.”

The national artist listed some of the reasons why Senator Pacquiao is qualified to make a run for the seat in Malacañang this coming Presidential election.

His earnings from boxing makes up for the much needed war chest in terms of financial stability.

Sionil also stressed the intelligence of Pacquiao, as evidenced by his success in boxing, “To be where he is, he trained very hard, disciplined himself, and studied himself, his opponents, their strengths and weaknesses,” Jose wrote. “His response, powered by his intelligence, is automatic and quick.”

The fact that he came from poverty and rose from that to be where he is right now is also a big factor for the boxer. “Pacman” knows “that poverty is our people’s most serious problem.” “How to abolish it, I hope, is his first priority,” Jose added.

He also highlighted Pacquiao’ faith and religion, “which give him moral strength and direction.”

“Manny Pacquiao has a lot of physical courage,” Jose concluded. “I hope he has moral courage, too.”

So why not Manny Pacquiao as the next President indeed why not!/PN
