“EXES Baggage” earned P21 million on its first day at the cinemas, Black Sheep Productions said Thursday.
The film reunites former sweethearts Angelica Panganiban and Carlo Aquino and tells the story of two people who found each other during a time of heartbreak.
The film, directed by Dan Villages, is the first movie produced by Black Sheep, one of the newly introduced film outfits under ABS-CBN Films.
They’re lovers-turned-exes in life as in their new movie, “Exes Baggage.”
And that charmingly awkward chemistry was again on display Tuesday when Angelica joined co-star Carlo for the film’s “black carpet” premiere.
Panganiban exuded elegance in a strapless gray gown as she greeted their fans while holding the hands of Aquino, who was dressed in a matching striped suit.
They appeared confident, dazzling for cameras as they headed inside the cinema, but were noticeably jittery once they faced reporters and were asked questions about the possible reception.
“Hindi ko alam,” Aquino replied, unable to explain his extreme nervousness ahead of the movie’s first screening.
Panganiban was similarly anxious, although this did not stop her from acting sweet towards Aquino, fixing his hair and giving him a surprise peck on his neck in front of everyone.
Sharing that Aquino was happy to find out that his character in her morning serye, “Playhouse,” has been rewritten to have more scenes, she suddenly hugged him and gave him a kiss.
This cute moment capped the increasingly awkward interview, where neither Panganiban nor Aquino looked comfortable in answering questions about their new movie.
They did thank their fellow stars who made the time to attend the premiere, including Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo.
“Alam mo iyon na nandito talaga iyong mga tao na hindi mo inaasahan na darating: mga taong nag-ayos ng schedule, nagbigay ng oras, nilabanan iyong trapik para makasama kami. Malaking malaking bagay kasi iyon sa akin para sa akin,” she said. (ABS-CBN News)
