Anne Curtis completes Tokyo Marathon

IT’S Showtime host Anne Curtis was among the finishers of the 2023 Tokyo Marathon held on Sunday, March 5.

The actress-TV host took to Instagram to show her gratitude to all the people who helped her on her journey to the finish line.

It took months for Anne to prepare for the marathon.

The actress previously revealed she took on the marathon for a purpose – to raise funds for children who are victims of violence, abuse and exploitation.

Anne isn’t new to running in marathons but it was the first time she ran after having her first daughter, Dahlia. Having revealed that she felt emotional as she reached the finish line of the Tokyo Marathon, she shared how it hit differently for her this time around.

“Being a mother, now as well, I couldn’t help but get emotional when I crossed that finish line. It just hit a little differently this time around,” she wrote.

The 38-year-old celebrity added the Tokyo Marathon was special for her as she was able to help the Filipino children with her cause.

She also felt ecstatic as she shared she hit her personal record, clocking in at four hours, 50 minutes and 37 seconds throughout the race.

“Every single kilometer was worth it, knowing I was running to help Filipino children heal and recover through the funds WE (yes, this includes every single one of you that donated) raised together. Running with a purpose bigger than just receiving a medal kept me fueled. Which probably, unintentionally, led me to PR. Kilig,” she remarked.

Anne revealed the donations won’t end after the Tokyo Marathon as she would still be accepting donations for the next 30 days. She also pledged she would match the final amount of donations that they would be receiving from the donors.

The Tokyo Marathon finisher expressed her gratitude to her coach, the UNICEF PH team, the people who cheered her on during the race, and her family who traveled with her in Japan.

“Your hugs and kisses last night before sleeping were everything to me and helped start this whole day full of love. Another marathon done and dedicated to the Filipino Youth. Thank you Lord for giving me this opportunity. Congratulations to all the runners!!!! Arigato Gozaimasu Tokyo,” she closed. (PUSH)
