SAN JOSE, Antique – The “Clean Rider” campaign of the Philippine National Police gained support from local governments in Antique.

Mayor Elmer Untaran said he fully supports the campaign which aims to avert crimes involving motorcycle-riding suspects (MRS).

Clean Rider was launched in the whole country last week.

Untaran said it will make San Jose a “better place to live, work and do business in.”

“Please cooperate and support this program for the safety of everyone,” he said during the launch last Wednesday.

The provincial government headed by Gov. Rhodora Cadiao also expressed support to the initiative.

The Antique Police Provincial Office (APPO) has recorded seven crimes involving MRS from 2016 up to present.

The APPO hopes that with the “more vigorous and focused” campaign, this kind of crimes would be totally eliminated.

The Clean Rider campaign also aims to ensure the safety of riders.

Individuals wanting to become a “clean rider” must bring their certificates of vehicle registration, driver’s license and other government-issued identification cards to a police station for registration.

When approved, the police will issue a Clean Rider sticker that must be placed on the driver’s registered motorcycle. (With a report from PNA/PN)
