Antique bags reg’l award in DTI short film tilt

SAN JOSE, Antique – The three entries of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Antique to the regional level short film contest were declared champions in this year’s celebration of the Consumer Welfare Month (CWM).

The three films produced by the students of Antique National School namely “Be the Change” for the Sustainable Consumption category; “Increased Online Fraud Scam” for the Digital Commerce Category; and “RX” for the Vulnerable Groups category, were all declared winners, besting other entries from other provinces in the region.

The coaches and students received their cash awards and certificates during the Consumer Congress held at J7 Hotel in Iloilo City.

Information Officer Lynna Joy B. Cardinal of DTI -Antique said that aside from the short film contest, DTI also spearheads series of activities in the province in line with the celebration of the 2019 Consumer Welfare Month.

Among the said activities are the Business Forum, Operation “Timbangan” and Price Tagging, Unveiling of Price Monitoring Board and Market Quiz Bee (game type) at Patnongon Public Market.

This is to heighten the awareness of the businesses and increase their compliance with Fair Trade and Consumer Protection Laws as well as local ordinances.

The local retailers in San Jose, Antique will also hold an in-store “Diskwento”, and will offer goods at discounted prices and give-aways to the consumers.

DTI is pursuing its advocacy in the implementation of the Consumer Act of Philippines, Standards Law and other Fair Trade Laws, said Cardinal.

This year’s observance of the Consumer Welfare Month carries the theme, Sustainable Consumption: Understanding the Impact of Consumer Choices in a Shared Environment. (With a report from PIA/PN)
