ANTIQUE – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) inaugurated its newest fire station in Antique’s southernmost town of Anini-y.

“With the inauguration of the fire station in Anini-y, there are now a total of 18 fire stations in the province,” said BFP-Antique Provincial Fire Marshall Supt. Patricio Collado.

The inauguration of the P7-million fire station in Barangay Poblacion on March 22 was attended by Mayor Maxfill Pollicar and BFP regional director Chief Supt. Jerry Candido.

Collado said they used to assign only two personnel in the town to conduct inspections, assist in issuing fire safety clearance certificates and carry out information and education campaigns for fire prevention.

The municipality also relied on the support of the neighboring Tobias Fornier town in case of fire incidents.

The new fire station has one firetruck, added Collado.

Meanwhile, the BFP continues to invite establishments in the province to join their “KAISA: Call to Action against Destructive Fire Campaign” by posting fire safety tips and conducting annual fire safety seminars and drills among its workers, among others.

“Compliant establishments are being awarded the Kaisa Star Seal during the BFP inspection,” he said. (PNA)/PN
