SAN JOSE, Antique – Two masked motorcycle-riding gunmen shot to death a village treasurer in Barangay 8 here yesterday noon.

The 41-year-old Jose Servano Jr. of Barangay Del Pilar, Hamtic town was walking in front of the Old Capitol building with punong barangay Adrian Macuja when attacked.

The motorcycle back rider shot Servano at close range on the head.

Servano was rushed to the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital where he expired.

Macuja, on the other hand, was unharmed.

The masked assailants fled.

Servano and Macuja were in this town to reportedly get their honorarium from a bank.

In an interview with Panay News, Police Staff Sergeant Bernice Louie Clarito, San Jose police station investigator, said they have yet to ascertain the motive in the attack.

β€œWe are still coordinating with his family and barangay officials,” said Clarito.

Macuja said the victim had no known enemy or someone he had grudges with. He also brushed aside allegations of the incident being politically related.

Macuja said the back rider was wearing a black jacket while motorcycle driver was clad in a red shirt. Their motorcycle was black.

Investigation and hot pursuit was ongoing, according to Clarito.

Meanwhile, a closed circuit television footage of the shooting went viral on social media./PN
