ANTIQUE – For initiatives promoting a smoke-free environment, 10 entities in this province bagged Red Orchid Awards from the Department of Health (DOH) during a recent regional awarding of partners and stakeholders.
The Red Orchid Awards is DOH’s search among government hospitals, offices, and local government units (LGUs) that implement a 100-percent tobacco-free environment and meeting the quality standards on tobacco prevention and control set by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The Antique Red Orchid awardees were the following:
* San Jose District Jail
* Office of the Provincial Fire Director
* Antique Provincial Health Office
* Bugasong Medicare Community Hospital
* Sebaste Community Hospital
* Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital
* Municipality of Sibalom
* Municipality of San Jose de Buenavista
* Municipality of Culasi
* Municipality of Caluya
DOH also recognized the Antique Provincial Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response Unit and the Antique Provincial Health Office – Field Health Services Information System for staying true to their mandates despite the pandemic.
The province was also a gold awardee for Bacteriology Confirmed Treatment Enrollment, and a silver awardee for Population Testing Rate.
Last 2021, Antique reached filaria-free status.

* Rabies-Free Area – Mararison Island, Culasi, Antique
* Best Performing Local Government Unit (LGU) for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health – Municipality of Culasi
* Highest Percentage of Anti-Retroviral Therapy Coverage
* Province with the Most Number of Achieved Key Results Areas for Universal Health Care – Local Health System Maturity Level Preparatory Level for Health Promotion
* Best Practices for the Prevention for Blindness Program, 2020-2021
* Best Performing Health Education and Promotions Officer – Irene Duldoco/PN
