Antique conducts anti-bomb exercise

SAN JOSE, Antique – A simulation in handling bomb threat and explosion during a political campaign rally was conducted in the province.

The exercise, led by the provincial Public Security Group, was held at the capitol ground on Tuesday, said Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO) Deputy Director for Operations Lieutenant Colonel Norby Escobar.

“The activity is part of our contingency plan and we will to test our preparation during bombing incident, especially in political rallies,” Escobar said.

Personnel from the APPO, San Jose Municipal police station, Special Weapons and Tactics, San Jose de Buenavista Emergency Medical Services, and Bureau of Fire Protection participated in the simulation exercise.

“The police patrol of San Jose de Buenavista was the first to respond in the crime scene at the capitol ground,” Escobar said.

“This simulation is the first time held for the year,” he added.

Escobar said another bomb threat drill for Public Safety Group members will be conducted to further enhance their preparations. (With a report from PNA/PN)
