ILOILO City – The province of Antique is implementing border control, not border restriction.

Gov. Rhodora Cadiao said the enforcement of border control in the province for two weeks starting Aug. 16 is what she and the members of the League of Municipalities in the Philippines (LMP)-Antique Chapter agreed to during last week’s meeting.
“Everybody knows that Iloilo City is the main commerce sang Panay. Antiqueños need to go there to work, purchase goods or transact in government offices,” she pointed out.

“Akon advise sa Antiqueños going to Iloilo City is indi lang (kamo) mag-overnight didto,”Cadiao added.

Hamtic and Anini-y are the municipalities of Antique bordering Iloilo province while Libertad and Pandan are the towns bordering Aklan province.

According to Cadiao, the border control is just for contact tracing. Using a checklist, a team composed Army, fire, health, police, and barangay personnel will be asking details of individuals entering the borders of the province.
“The team manning the border will also check the temperature of the persons and get their pictures,” she said.
Meanwhile, Cadiao said Antiqueños in this city who want to return home, especially those who tested positive for COVID-19, should coordinate with their respective local government units. (With a report from PNA/PN)
