SAN JOSE, Antique â Sangguniang Panlalawigan members sought a raise in the mobile phone load allowance of elected officials and department heads, and the provision of such stipend to assistance department heads.
A resolution âauthorizingâ the increase in load allowance stated that elected officials must have a monthly load allowance of P5,000; department heads, P3,000; and assistant department heads, P2,000.
Cell phones play âa vital roleâ in peopleâs lives, especially among Antique officials, as they allow the latter to âget connectedâŚin the performance of their duties,â stated the Provincial Board resolution authored by Pio Jessielito Sumande Sr.
Currently elected officials and department heads have a P2,000 monthly load allowance, while assistant department heads have none, according to Provincial Planning and Development Office head Juliana Cepe.
Raising the phone load allowance will âgive easy access to the internet for research, investigation and other forms of gathering information in relation to their respective official functions and responsibilities,â said the Provincial Board.
The resolution was passed during the Boardâs session on Dec. 22, 2016 yet. Gov. Rhodora Cadiao approved it just this Jan. 17.
But Cepe told Panay News the load allowance raise has not yet been implemented pending availability of funds./PN
