Antique flights cancelled due to ‘Tisoy’

SAN JOSE, Antique – Typhoon “Tisoy” (Kammuri) has forced the suspension of classes in this province and the cancellation of flights between the province and Clark, Pampanga on Tuesday.

Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management officer Broderick Train said the 18 local government units in the province decided to suspend classes from preschool to college level on Dec. 3 for the safety of the students.

“The province of Antique from Anini-y to Barbaza towns had been placed under typhoon signal No. 1 while the towns of Barbaza to Caluya under signal number 2,” Train added.

The southern, central and some portions of northern Antique under typhoon signal No. 1 were Anini-y, Tobias Fornier, Hamtic, San Jose de Buenavista, Sibalom, San Remigio, Belison, Patnongon, Bugasong, Valderrama, and Laua-an.

Typhoon signal No. 2 was raised in the northern municipalities of the province including Barbaza, Tibiao, Culasi, Sebaste, Pandan, Libertad, and Caluya.

Train said aside from the suspension of classes, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines informed that Philippine Airlines (PAL) flights were canceled between Clark and Antique due to the inclement weather.

“There is no PAL flight on Tuesday,” he added.

PAL, the only air transport flying Clark to Antique airport every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, decided to cancel its flights because of the typhoon.

Train, however, said government offices in the province were open despite the inclement weather.

“Government offices are only allowed to suspend its work if it is typhoon signal No. 3,” he added.

He said sea travel in the ports of Libertad, Caluya and Culasi were suspended since Monday.

“So far there is still no casualty monitored due to the typhoon,” added Train.(With a report from PNA/PN)
