SAN JOSE, Antique – The Antique Harvest fair has generated P400,000 sales and additional orders worth P200,000, according to Antique Development Foundation Incorporated director Rhoda Pon-an.
Around 20 exhibitors joined the ongoing week-long event held at a mall in Antique, Pon-an said.
“We are glad that the local market is now patronizing micro small and medium enterprises (MSME) products from Antique,” she added.
Pon-an noted the exhibitors did not expect to earn big amount of sales and order.
She said the most popular food items bought during the event were the San Remigio’s taro and banana chips, handwoven fabrics of the Bagtason Loom Weavers Association and Valderrama’s squash noodles.
“Usually, the MSMEs in Antique find it hard to compete their products in the regional fairs in Iloilo City but with the Harvest fair, they were inspired to build up their capacity to produce more,” she said.
Pon-an said the MSMEs in the province still need to develop their products and production capacity for bulk orders to compete with other producers in Western Visayas.
She said the Harvest fair served as an accessible place where the locals could buy their products. (With a report from PNA/PN)
