Antique hospitals on ‘code white’

ANTIQUE – The Antique Provincial Health Office (PHO) placed all district hospitals on code white alert in connection with the oil spill.

Provincial Health Officer II, Dr. Ric Noel Naciongayo, issued a memorandum on this on March 4.

“The activation of an emergency response team and a local operation center hotline is advised in all municipalities and hospitals during this period,” read part of the order.

It added that all Health Emergency Management (HEM) and Emergency Room staff and personnel are advised to stay alert.

Officers on duty are encouraged to do proactive monitoring and send flash reports of any untoward incident to the Antique PHO-Health Emergency Management Service.

Antique has seven district hospitals and one provincial hospital:

* Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital in San Jose de Buenavista

* Rep. Ramon Maza Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Sibalom

* Culasi District Hospital

* Pedro L. Gindap Municipal Hospital (PLGMG) in Barbaza

* Sebaste Community Hospital

* Bugasong Medicare Community Hospital

* President Diosdado Macapagal District in Tobias Fornier

* Gov. Leandro L. Fullon District Hospital in Pandan

As of March 8 at 10 a.m., four areas remain affected:

* Sitio Sabang, Barangay Tinogboc – four kilometers of coastline affected with an estimated 8,000 liters of oil sludge

* Sitio Liwagao, Barangay Sibolo – two kilometers of coastline affected with an estimated 8,000 liters of oil sludge

* Barangay Semirara – two kilometers of coastline affected by an estimated 400 liters of oil sludge

* Barangay Alegria – minimal oil spill./PN
