Antique jail guard shot to death

SAN JOSE, Antique – A jail guard at the Antique Rehabilitation Center had been shot to death in this town Wednesday.

Two motorcycle-riding shooters clad in black jackets and helmets fired at the homebound Jonathan Pava at around 7:10 p.m.

Pava was also on board his motorcycle when attacked just a few meters from his house on Cerdeña Street, Barangay 8.

The jail guard was hit on the back. He fell to the ground but the back rider-suspect kept firing at him. At least four gunshots were fired.

Pava sustained gunshot wounds on the body and the head.

San Jose Emergency Medical Services personnel brought him to the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital where he was pronounced “dead on arrival.”

The shooters – still unidentified as of posting time – fled. The San Jose police set up checkpoints on their possible exit points. Investigation continues./PN
