ANTIQUE – The Antique Provincial Health Office reported 11 new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infections on Sunday, Sept. 25, bringing the total number of active cases in the province to 43.

Since the pandemic started, the province recorded a total of 9,553 COVID-19 cases, with 9,141 recovered cases. However, deaths rose to 369.

Here is the breakdown of active cases per town:

* Pandan – eight

* Bugasong – seven

* Hamtic – five

* Patnongon – four

* Laua-an – three

* Anini-y, Culasi, San Jose, San Remigio, Sibalom, Tobias Ferrier, and Valderama – two each

* Caluya and Libertad – one each

Meanwhile, wearing of facemasks outdoors is now voluntary in the province.

On Sept. 13, Gov. Rhodora Cadiao issued an executive order (EO) adopting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s EO which allows voluntary wearing of facemasks in open spaces and non-crowded outdoor areas.

She, however, added that senior citizens, immunocompromised and individuals who are not yet fully vaccinated should continue wearing facemasks.

According to Cadiao, the province is still under COVID-19 Alert Level 2 due to low coverage in vaccination./PN
