ANTIQUE – All 18 towns in the province have recorded dengue cases, data from the Antique Provincial Disease Surveillance and Response Unit showed.
From January 1 to June 18, 2022, the province recorded 979 dengue cases with four deaths. This was 202 cases more compared to the data released last week or from January 1 to June 11.
Capital town San Jose reported the highest number of cases with 218, followed by Sibalom – 206 cases with one death, and Hamtic – 123 cases with two deaths.
The rest of the towns recorded the following cases: Bugasong (103 cases with one death), Anini-y (61), San Remigio (59), Tobias Fornier (36), Valderrama (26), Barbaza (25), Belison (25), Sebaste (24), Patnongon (23), Tibiao (20), Laua-an (15), Pandan (eight), Culasi (four), Caluya (two), and Libertad (one).
Following the sharp increase in cases in just a span of one week, Governor Rhodora Cadiao is calling on every household to always practice the 4S Strategy against dengue namely: Search and destroy mosquito-breeding sites; employ Self-protection measures; Seek early consultation; and Support fogging/spraying only in hotspot areas.
“Please strictly follow sang aton 4S Strategy against dengue kay mataas ang cases sa ngayon,” Cadiao said.
She added that everyone’s cooperation in maintaining the cleanliness of the surroundings and destroying breeding places of mosquitoes is vital in reducing the risk of being bitten by dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
Meanwhile, the provincial government has extended assistance to the towns with the highest number of dengue cases by distributing larvicides and fogging machines.
The dengue monitoring team of the Antique Provincial Health Office is also consistent in their dengue information dissemination for a more effective search and destroy operation./PN
