SAN JOSE, Antique – Gov. Rhodora Cadiao urged the mayors of 12 municipalities to reconsider the December moratorium on the return of their respective locally stranded individuals (LSIs).

Antiqueño LSIs must be allowed to spend the holidays with their families, she stressed.

Cadiao suggested that the moratorium be moved to January and this should be observed province-wide or covering not just 12 municipalities but all of Antique’s 18 towns “para makapahuway ang aton mga frontliners.”

“This is not political kundi dya public demand. Bale Christmas gift para sa aton mga kasimanwa,” said Cadiao.

It is only at this time of the year that Antiqueños working outside the province find time to reunite with their families, she explained.

Cadiao also revealed she may further simplify the requirements for returning LSIs.

“Ako mismo naka-experience kon ano kabudlay magbuol ka mga permits kag clearances…Our kasimanwas are really having a hard time just to come home. I think these clearances and travel permits are not anymore needed. What I think they need most is a letter of acceptance na lang from their local government units,” said Cadiao.

The following towns secured the approval of the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force for                     the moratorium:

* San Remigio – Dec. 11, 2020 to Jan. 3, 2021

* Sebaste – Dec. 10, 2020 to Jan. 10, 2021

* Caluya – Dec. 15, 2020 to Jan. 4, 2021

* Hamtic – Dec. 10, 2020 to Jan. 5, 2021

* Anini-y – Dec. 9, 2020 to Jan. 5, 2021

* Belison – Dec. 4, 2020 to Jan. 8, 2021

* Tibiao – Dec. 7, 2020 to Jan. 4, 2021

* Patnongon – Dec. 8, 2020 to Jan. 5, 2021

* Sibalom – Nov. 20, 2020 to Dec. 4, 2021

* Tobias Fornier – Dec. 9, 2020 to Jan. 3, 2021

* Culasi – Dec. 5, 2020 to Jan. 5, 2021

* Valderrama – Dec. 4, 2020 to Jan. 3, 2021

Due to Cadiao’s appeal, the mayors of these 12 towns would be convening this week.

Only six towns have not sought a moratorium – Bugasong,  Pandan, Barbaza, San Jose, Libertad, and Lau-an./PN
