ANTIQUE – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) halted sea travel via small crafts from the province of Antique to Mindoro and Palawan and vice versa.
Lieutenant Senior Grade Rey D. Anacita, PCG-Antique station commander, issued an advisory on this around 5 a.m. on Monday following a gale warning from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
“Strong to gale-force winds associated with Typhoon Goring (Saola) and the southwest monsoon are affecting the western seaboards of Visayas, particularly the province of Antique,” read the advisory.
Trips from Antique, particularly from Semirara, Caluya, Libertad and Culasi to Mindoro or Palawan and vice versa of 250 gross tons and below were cancelled.
Large vessels, meanwhile, were alerted against big waves.
Likewise, trips from Barangay Poblacion to Mararison Island, Culasi, Antique were cancelled.
The seagoing public, coastal communities and fisherfolks were advised not to venture out to sea./PN
