ANTIQUE – The provincial government of Antique received the 2022 Good Local Governance (SGLG) citation from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

SGLG is the highest award conferred by DILG to performing local government units. It symbolizes transparency, accountability, integrity, and improved public service delivery.

Gov. Rhodora J. Cadiao, on behalf of the Antique provincial government, received the award from DILG secretary Benjamin  Abalos Jr. and Sen. JV Ejercito during the awarding ceremony at The Manila Hotel on Dec. 15.

“Pag naging SGLG awardee ka, you are doing what the DILG mandates, and importante diyan karan is corruption-free; walang nakikitang corruption kasi lahat ng ini-implement mo na projects nakapasa lahat sa guidelines ng DILG,” said Cadiao.

She added that the award is proof that the provincial government is doing its mandate on peace and order, disaster preparedness, education, social services, environment, tourism, health, and business, among others.

This is the second good governance citation for Antique. The first was in 2018.

The Antique provincial government received a 2022 SGLG marker and P9.5 million in incentives or grants in the form of programs and projects from DILG.

Also bestowed the 2022 SGLG award were the towns of Barbaza, Patnongon, and San Jose de Buenavista.

To bag the SGLG, the municipality or province must pass all 10 assessment areas: Good Financial Administration; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection and Sensitivity Programs; Health Compliance and Responsiveness; Programs for Sustainable Education; Business-friendliness and Competitiveness; Safety Peace and Order; Environmental Management; Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts; and Youth Development.

SGLG is institutionalized through Republic Act No. 11292 and is dubbed “the mother of all awards,” being the highest distinction given to LGUs that exemplify transparency and accountability./PN
