Antique record first coronavirus death

ILOILO City – The province of Antique recorded its first death from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) – a 61-year-old woman from Hamtic town.

Patient No. 10,191 had pre-existing comorbidity, according to Mayor Julius Pacificador of Hamtic.

Paficador said the elderly woman passed away on Sept. 18 while waiting for her swab test result at a hospital in this city.

“The result of her RT-PCR (reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction test) was only released on Sept. 22, 2020 which confirmed her as COVID-19 positive,” said Pacificador.

He urged his constituents to strictly observe minimum health protocol like wearing of facemask and face shield, social distancing and frequent hand washing.

As of Sept. 24, Antique has a total of 57 confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Of the total figure, 38 are local cases and 19 are locally stranded individual, returning overseas Filipinos and authorized person outside of residence./PN
