SAN JOSE, Antique – Validation of the proposed P1.4-billion Road Leveraging Linkages on Industry and Trade projects in the province is ongoing.
Wilson Alian of the Department of Trade and Industry in Antique said the projects are proposed in towns of Patnongon, San Remigio, Sebaste, and Bugasong.
Two road projects proposed in San Remegio were validated on Wednesday, he added.
These are the concreting of the road from Barangay Carawisan I-Barangbang-Carawisan II-Magdalena-General Luna to the public market and the construction of the Vilvar Bridge.
Through the P500-million road and P300-million bridge projects, farmers will be able to bring their products (such as bamboo, high value crops, buri, bariw, abaca, coffee, cacao and peanut) to the market easily.
The evaluation team will visit the proposed construction and improvement of Barangay Villa Crespo-Barangay Patlabawon-Barangay Tobias Fornier-Barangay Bitas road to the public market of Patnongon worth P250 million on Friday.
The road will provide access to areas with rattan and cacao industry.
The other project in Patnongon is the proposed construction and improvement of Barangay Tigmanale-Sitio Kansilayan-Barangay Panakawon-Barangay Macarena road to the public market worth P250 million.
Once completed, the road will allow easy delivery of products such as cacao, corn, peanut, and coconut produced by farmers to the market.
In Sebaste, the proposed construction of the Alegre Bridge is worth P35 million. This will provide access for the transport of the nito, rattan, abaca, high value products, and peanuts.
The construction of the Yapu Bridge connecting Iloilo-Antique Road to the public market of Bugasong is also proposed. It is worth P105 million, supporting the coffee and cacao industries in the area.
Alian said their validation is necessary to check the proposed sites for the projects, which, if approved, would be implemented next year. (With PNA/PN)
